24-Meter Weighbridge Scale with mScales at Sustainable Mewab
3:50

Mewab describes itself as a down-to-earth company that is part of the circular economy. When they needed a smart and easy-to-use vehicle scale for their major investment in Karlstad, they chose Tamtron and the digital weighing service mScales.

By reusing, recycling and refining by-products and returning them to the cycle, it is safe to say that Mewab is a sustainable catalyst. Among their projects, they transform by-products from the paper industry into various types of lime for agriculture and farmland.

They are now building a biochar plant as part of a Klimatklivets initiative. Mewab's Vice President, Per Ljungberg, says about the project: "We receive different types of organic material and warm-compost it. We can speed up composting from one year to four or five months with the new biochar plant."

Local presence a key factor

In connection with the construction of the new plant, the need also arose for a new ground-mounted vehicle scale, and Tamtron was chosen. Per Ljungberg continues: "We wanted to be an attractive facility that is easy and smooth to visit, while also meeting our regulatory requirements for self-monitoring. That's when the need for a new weighbridge arose. We considered offers from several suppliers but ultimately decided on Tamtron."

When asked why they chose Tamtron, he replies: "We established a great connection. The key factor was their local presence. Service and after-sales support are just as important as the installation itself, and it's good to have a local contact. In addition, it's exciting to work with an innovative supplier using new technology that wants to move forward, which suits us well. I would definitely recommend Tamtron to others."

The weighbridge that has been installed is a 24-meter scale with Tamtron's cloud-connected mScales weighing solution. "We wanted a scale where you can weigh everything at once and avoid partial weighing," says Per Ljungberg.

Digital weighing service mScales simplifies daily operations

We asked Per Höglund, Aftermarket Manager at Tamtron, to tell us more: "The advantages of mScales are that it is completely cloud-connected, allowing the system to be accessed by anyone, anytime. Weighing data is automatically logged in the customer's system and everything from reports to history can be accessed in mScales, which is at the core of it all. As the driver handles the registration via a phone or tablet from inside the vehicle, there is no need for a physical driver terminal and the driver therefore never even has to leave the vehicle. In addition, no specific software is needed, mScale's weighing service is web-based and therefore easily accessed via the browser."

Per Höglund, who is personally involved in the installation at Mewab, shares his thoughts on the project: "We have had a great and positive collaboration. As with all other installations, we have been with the customer every step of the way. Now that the weighbridge is operational and calibrated, our service and calibration agreement begins. The agreement includes performing recurring inspections to ensure the weighbridge meets all requirements. The customer does not have to manage it themselves, we handle it for them. Since we are accredited by Swedac, we can conduct both calibrations and regular inspections, which is a legal requirement."

"Mewab is a circular economy company that works with the reuse and processing of residual products in three business areas - Agriculture, Recycling and Landfill Construction. We strive to reuse, recycle and process as much material as we can, while returning new residual products to the cycle to meet customer needs and at the same time contribute to a long-term sustainable society."
