mScales tailoring possibilities
This article provides an overview of tailoring possibilities in mScales weighing service.
mScales offers extensive tailoring possibilities to adapt the weighing service to each customer’s needs. These possibilities are based on add-on modules, parameters and custom fields. Additionally, automation workflows can be used to create tailored solutions.
Add-on modules
Add-on modules offer additional features to the customer's service package. Some add-on modules are already included in certain service packages and others can be added depending on the package itself. For example, the Enterprise package includes all add-on modules automatically.
If customers decide to purchase additional add-on modules, these are billed monthly or annually, just like the service package itself. A detailed overview of add-on and feature tailoring possibilities for all packages can be found on our Compare packages-page.
Parameters
Parameters provide users with access to various functionalities and tools within the mScales weighing service. They are activated according to each customer’s specific needs, allowing the system to be tailored for different operational requirements. Availability of parameters depends on the customer’s selected service package and the features included in it.
All parameters are configured using a simple on/off logic. The mScales Support team is responsible for activating and deactivating parameters as agreed with the customer.
Default vehicle in operator weighing
- Set a default vehicle type in operator weighing. Possible vehicle types are truck, trailer and tandem trailer. Not applicable for loader scales.
Webhooks
- Send a webhook to an external system from a weighing event.
Weight presentation unit
- How the weights are presented in the UI. Possible values are kg/t.
Exclude non attached products from operator weighing selections
- Only products that are connected to a storage are searched in operator weighing or new transaction view, when storage is not selected. When storage is selected, only current storage's products are included into result set. Unconnected products are not included in the result set.
Exclude non attached products from code weighing selections
- Only products that are connected to a storage are searched in code weighing, i.e. unconnected products are not included in the result set (this if the order or code does not have a product set).
Products by location-filter is on by default
- Sets the products by location-filter on by default. Also sets the filter in code weighing.
Load number series reference
- The load number series of the company’s weighings can be set for each location, if value is location. By default, if that parameter is not set, the company’s load number series is the same for all weighings of the
Splitting the weighing
- Allows the product to be cut into several products in a weighing ticket.
Weighing reporting for user companies
- The owner of the scale can see reports from companies using the scale.
Storage selection in code weighing
- Enables company-specific selection of storage in code weighing with the same logic as product selection (can be selected if the storage is not specified in the order).
New transaction page (multi-part weighing)
- New transaction page is added to the account, which allows user to create several products for one material transaction.
Heating season as interval data filter (Finland)
- Reporting interval data filters include a new Heating season-option.
Custom fields
Custom fields (also known as attributes) are company account–specific data fields that allow users to store and manage customized data within the service. These fields can be added to various entities, like products, scales, orders, weighing transactions, weighing code views, companies, locations, and storages.
Custom fields can be one of multiple types, depending on the format of stored data. Available field types are text fields, checkboxes, selection lists, multi-selection lists and number fields.
By using custom fields, customers can extend the standard data structure of mScales, ensuring that all relevant information is available and easily managed throughout their weighing processes.
The number of available custom fields depends on the customer’s service package:
- Digitalize package: 5 custom fields
- Streamline package: 20 custom fields
- Enterprise package: 50 custom fields
These limits define how many custom fields can be created and used simultaneously within the service environment.
Custom fields can be set to inherit values between objects. For example, a field defined for a product can automatically be passed on to the order and further to the weighing transaction. This inheritance ensures consistency of data and reduces manual entry.
Certain add-on modules, such as the waste transfer note-module (only available in Finland), contain predefined custom fields that apply to products and orders. These ensure that required information is available for reporting and regulatory documentation.
Automation workflows
Automation workflows are predefined sets of rules and actions that automate routine operations within the weighing service. They enable customized functionalities based on real-time data and specific conditions.
With automation workflows, it’s possible to:
- Define custom rules that trigger actions automatically when certain thresholds are met, such as weight limits or inventory levels.
- Send notifications or messages based on predefined criteria to ensure timely communication and process control.
- Tailor the weighing service to support various operational needs, from inventory tracking to process optimization.
- Increase efficiency and reliability by reducing manual tasks and ensuring consistent, automated execution of critical functions.
Automation workflows can be acquired as a separate add-on module (automatically included in Streamline and Enterprise packages).
Activation and configuration
When customers want to purchase additional add-on modules, they need to contact mScales sales team or their company's defined sales representative. Contact information can be found from our website on Support and sales page.
The mScales support team is responsible for setting up and activating custom fields and parameters according to the customer’s needs. Configuration is carried out in cooperation with the customer to ensure that the modifications meet their operational and reporting needs.
