Connecting scales to the service
All types of industrial scales such as vehicle scales, loader scales, floor scales, belt scales, and loading stations can be connected to the mScales service. Scales of different manufacturers and ages can be integrated using a gateway device that is installed on the scale and connects it to the cloud.
Each company using mScales has its own account. One scale can be linked to several mScales business accounts. In this case, each company sees and manages only its own material flows. An mScales user can have a user role across multiple enterprise accounts.

Integration with ERP and other systems
The mScales service can be integrated into the company’s ERP system to ensure seamless data synchronization. Customer information, orders, and weighing results can be transferred automatically between systems. Weighing data can also be exported back to ERP-based modules for inventory management, invoicing, and reporting.
In addition to ERP systems, data can be connected to logistics management systems, e-commerce platforms, data warehouses and other business applications, ensuring a continuous and transparent information flow throughout the organization.
Managing material flows
With mScales, all material receipts, internal transfers, and shipments are managed digitally. These transactions together form a complete picture of a company’s material flows.
All physical locations where materials and products are weighed are defined as sites in the service. Within each site, storage locations can be created for warehouses, silos etc. bulk storages. This structure provides real-time visibility of product stocks at each storage location.
Several customers in different industries have taken the mScales weighing service into use to get an overview of all material flows in the company: receipts, internal transfers in production and shipments. mScales allows you to manage all mass-based material flows.
Orders and data structure
In mScales, an order is a central business object that links weighings to commercial activities. Orders can represent sales orders, purchase orders, transport orders, projects, or production tasks.
Order data can include customer-specific fields, which can be copied to weighing records as needed. The data model should be planned carefully to ensure that the service operates efficiently and supports all weighing user/business cases.
Weighing and self-service features
Weighings can be performed by logged-in users or by using weighing codes that enable self-service. A weighing code can be sent via SMS or email to a driver or transport planner. This allows them to perform the weighing without a user account. Users can perform site- and transport company–specific weighings as a self-service operation using a valid weighing code.
Weighing codes are sometimes referred as pick-up codes, receipt codes, or transaction codes and they can be single-use or reusable depending on the purpose.
Roles and access management
All parties involved in the weighing process such as customers, carriers, weighers, contractors, and material suppliers can be assigned their own user accounts. Each user only sees the data relevant to their role.
A single user may also have access to multiple business accounts. This allows them to choose which company to manage and what actions to perform according to their assigned user role. One scale can be linked to several mScales business accounts. In this case, each company sees and manages only its own material flows. An mScales user can have a user role across multiple enterprise accounts.
Waste transfer notes
mScales weighing service supports waste transfer notes that comply with waste management regulations. These notes form part of a responsible and traceable waste handling process.
Waste transfer notes can be created automatically during the weighing of a load or prepared in advance before transport begins. All information can be transferred directly to the official waste transfer register, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Reporting and monitoring
mScales provides comprehensive operational reporting that helps track unloading and loading times, self-service levels, and overall weighing activity. The scale owner can view company-specific weighing volumes and assess how the scale is being utilized. Reports can be exported in PDF format using data export tools for further analysis.
Sharing weighing data
With mScales, weighing data can be shared securely between companies. For example, a carrier can view what materials it has transported, and a customer can see what products have been received. Data visibility is always limited to each company’s own information and role.
Weighing information can also be shared by sending receipts via email, printing reports or using data export functions for external analysis.
Add-on modules and scalability
mScales offers a wide range of add-on modules. The service can be tailored to suit each company’s needs, from basic weighing operations to complete material flow management and ERP integration. More information can be found from mScales pricing page.
