Introduction to user groups
This article provides an overview of different user groups inside mScales weighing service.
In the mScales weighing service, users are divided into groups based on their intended usage of the service. The three main user groups are Driver, mScales User, and Partner. Each group plays a distinct part in ensuring smooth operation and data flow within the system.
Driver
Drivers perform weighings as a self-service weighing using a mobile browser with a valid weighing code, without a user account or login. At the end of the weighing, drivers see the weighing receipt (weighing ticket). Drivers don't have access to the web version of mScales. This group’s users focus on performing weighings efficiently and independently, typically at the weighing location using a mobile device.
Key characteristics:
- Access is limited to mobile use only.
- Can perform self-service weighings by using weighing codes.
- Access to weighing receipt history via mobile.
- Does not require login credentials.
mScales User
Logged-in mScales users access the service through a web browser using their user credentials. These users manage daily operations within mScales and can work in different roles, such as account manager, weighing operator, weighing data or reporting manager, device handler or API integration maintainer. These roles are based on user-specific permission settings.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform weighings and manage weighing-related information in the system.
- Manage system data such as weighings, companies, products, and reports.
- Create and manage weighing codes used by drivers.
- Oversee and configure company-specific settings, parameters and operational rules.
- Administrate user accounts and assign appropriate permission levels when acting as an account administrator.
- Maintain API connections and other system integrations, depending on granted permissions.
Partner
Partners have view-only access to the mScales weighing service. They log in with their own credentials but can only view information, not edit it. This group’s users usually consist of external stakeholders, such as customers or suppliers, who need visibility into operations but do not perform weighings or manage configurations.
Key functions:
- View weighing data and related reports.
- Gain insights into operational activities.
- Access shared information provided by the company managing the weighings.
